Self- Medicator
Kath began using her body as medium as a way of regaining control & power over her body, to deal with feelings of fear, grief, loss, self-doubt and anxiety. Bodies talk; they are embedded with social meanings which can immobilize, from which she tries to free herself using movement, action & gesture. Using herself as sculpture she exposes her connections to the natural & material world, exploring her own anxieties about the temporality of human life to de-centre prevailing cultural ideologies of human power and control.
